STEPWAT2 is a individual-based plant simulation model that is coupled with a process-based soil water dynamics model that simulates establishment, growth, and mortality of individual plant species based on soil water availability on an annual basis. This model has been conceptualized for dryland ecosystems, where soil water availability is a key limiting resource for plant growth. STEPWAT2 is written in C++.

rSFSTEP2 is an R program that runs STEPWAT2 for multiple sites, climate scenarios, time periods, and disturbance regimes simultaneously.
